Business Teams
Crown Forestry Rental Trust is made up of four main business teams responsible to the Chief Executive. The Chief Executive is in turn responsible to the governing Board of Trustees.

Chief Executive
The Chief Executive is responsible for providing strategic leadership to CFRT and ensuring the organisation meets its objectives. The Chief Executive maintains an overview of all aspects of CFRT operations.
Client Services
The Client Services Group works with eligible claimant groups undertaking either the Waitangi Tribunal or the Office of Treaty Settlements processes. Client Services Group also works with claimants to develop funding proposals that assists them achieve Treaty settlement outcomes.
The Client Services Team is responsible for:
- Providing information to claimants on the settlement process.
- Brokering relationships between claimants and the Crown.
- Advising claimants of the requirements of the Trust to access funding.
Research Services
The Research Services Group assists with the development of the overall research plans for districts that best reflect the claimants' needs. Research requirements are aligned with the Waitangi Tribunal and Office of Treaty Settlements priorities and work programmes.
Research Facilitators in the Research Services Group are responsible for:
- Working alongside Maori communities to plan and coordinate their district research needs.
- Preparing research project briefs and contracting research services to claimant groups.
Similar functions are assigned to the Trust's Mapping Facilitator.
Assurance Group
The Assurance Group works with the Client Services Group and Research Services to ensure all claimant requests for assistance are in line with CFRT funding policy and criteria. The Assurance Group reviews CFRT policy and practice.
The Assurance Group is responsible for:
- Policy Advice.
- Business Plan Assessment.
- Contract Management.
- Risk Management.
Business Support Services
The Business Support Services Group ensures Crown Forestry Rental Trust operates effectively and efficiently. They also ensure the Trust is capable of delivering quality assistance to claimant groups and makes sure the Trust funds are invested safely in accordance with the Trust Deed.
The Business Support Services Team is responsible for:
- Human Resource Management.
- Office Services.
- Information Management.
- Financial Management.
- Information Technology.
